I am so relieved to have the guys at a place that mostly meets their needs! And meets mine too (covered arena and heated bathroom, I am very fond of you). There are even beautiful views!
They have friends (each other and horses in neighboring pastures they can interact with), freedom of movement (an acre of pasture), and forage (an acre of pasture and slow-fed hay 24/7), and a shelter! While the facility I imagine creating has more tweaks, it's wonderful to set them up to be happy and well all the time, not just when I am able to be there to help meet a need. I think building a partnership will be much more effective when they're in a state of well-being.
Which is somewhat ironic, since I could do better at maintaining practices that support my own well-being. I imagine I'm a better partner when I am responsible for my own well-being. I sure feel a lot more empowered, free and hopeful. But then, being around horses is one of my favorite well-being practices, so maybe I'm doing pretty good.
